This amazingly simple banana avocado face mask is very nurturing and made in just a minute! The moisturizing and nourishing properties of banana and avocado mixed with coconut oil give your skin a healthy, glowing boost.
Use room temperature coconut oil – the ideal consistency for this DIY beauty recipe is when it’s soft and easy to mix.
You don’t want the coconut oil to be liquid because the mask should be creamy.
I always keep two jars of coconut oil; one in the fridge and one in my kitchen cabinet. This way I always have a solid and a soft one whenever I need it.
If you live in a cold climate / it’s winter in your part of the world / you store your coconut oil in the fridge / you’ll need to melt the coconut oil a bit.
The best way to do this is au bain marie. Put a pan with water to boil, once it starts to boil turn the fire low. Put a bowl with the coconut oil inside the hot water. This way the oil isn’t exposed to high temperatures, which helps conserve the nutrients.
When the oil becomes soft, turn off the fire and take the bowl out of the pan. Add the banana and avocado to the bowl.
The banana and avocado should be very ripe. It’s both healthier and easier to work with. Just mash them in the coconut oil, mix everything and your banana avocado face mask is done.
Put the mask on your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes or longer if you are comfortable with it.
This mask doesn’t dry, so the best position to take for it is to lay down and relax.
It might become a bit runny, so keep a towel wrapped around your hair and one by your side if you need to. Make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
Gently wash off with room temperature water and dry with a towel.
