Shaving is such a common activity that you don’t think much about it.
Smooth legs and all that? Yes!
But did you know that shaving causes a lot of stress on your skin?

Our skin is covered with a protective lipid barrier layer. Its function is to keep the moisture in the skin tissues and protect it from unwanted external chemicals. When you shave, it damages this protective layer. This can cause irritation such as ingrown hairs, razor bumps and inflammation.

While you can’t entirely avoid shaving damage, you can minimize it. What helps is using good quality razor blades and shaving very gently. A protecting shaving product such as this shea butter shaving cream is a must.

Good aftercare is also important, so today I am going to show you how to make this easy DIY almond oil aftershave cream.
This rich and nourishing cream is full with natural ingredients that keep your skin in the best shape after shaving;

Shea butter is one of my favorite products which I use daily. It deeply moisturizes, helps with collagen production and skin elasticity.

Sweet almond oil is very mild and hypoallergenic. It is rich in vitamin E, which helps protect the skin from all sorts of external damage.

Carrot seed oil is rich in Vitamin A and beta-carotene which help keep the skin soft. It’s a wonderful protection against free radicals.

Tea tree oil helps prevent infections, is anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal and helps cure cuts and wounds.

Coconut oil contains Lauric acid, vitamin E and other anti-oxidants which have strong anti-aging properties and much more.

Instructions:

Put the coconut oil and shea butter in a bowl placed in a pan with shimmering water. Use low heat while stirring. This technique is called au bain marie and it protects the nutrients.

Remove the bowl and add the sweet almond oil, carrot seed oil and tea tree oil. Stir lightly and then put the bowl into the refrigerator.

Once the mixture is solid, whip it with a mixer for a few minutes until you reach a light, airy texture.
Use this gentle, nourishing almond oil aftershave cream right after shaving. Gently massage it in and give it time to get absorbed.

A great natural product for girls & boys! Just play around with the essential oils to give it your favorite scent.
