Shaving is such a common activity that most of us don’t think much about it. But did you know that it causes a lot of stress on your skin?

Our skin is covered with a protective lipid barrier layer. Its function is to keep the moisture inside of the skin tissue and protect it from external influences.
Shaving damages this protective layer and can cause irritation such as ingrown hairs, razor bumps and inflammation.

While you can’t entirely avoid shaving damage, you can minimize it.
What helps is using good quality razor blades and shaving very gently. A protecting shaving product such as this
shea butter shaving cream is a must.

Good aftercare is also important, so today I am going to show you how to make this easy DIY almond oil aftershave cream.

This rich and nourishing cream is full with natural ingredients that take care of your skin after shaving.

Shea butter deeply moisturizes, stimulates collagen production and improves skin elasticity. It’s one of my favorite daily-use products.

Sweet almond oil is very mild and hypoallergenic. It’s rich in vitamin E, which helps protect the skin from all sorts of external damage.

Carrot seed oil is rich in Vitamin A and beta-carotene which help keep the skin soft and protect against free radicals.

Tea tree oil helps prevent infections, is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and helps cure cuts and wounds.

Coconut oil contains Lauric acid, vitamin E and other antioxidants with strong anti-aging properties.

Instructions:

Put the coconut oil and shea butter in a bowl placed in a pan with shimmering water on low heat while stirring.
This technique is called au bain marie and is a gentle way to melt and mix ingredients while protecting the nutrients.

Remove the bowl and mix in the sweet almond oil, carrot seed oil and tea tree oil.

Put the bowl in the refrigerator for about half an hour.

Once the mixture is solid, whip it with a mixer for a few minutes until you reach a light, airy texture.

Use this nourishing DIY almond oil aftershave cream right after shaving. Gently massage it in and give it time to get absorbed.

A great natural product for both ladies & gentlemen! Just play around with the essential oils to create your favorite scent.
