Split hair ends are a type of hair damage that can be caused by different stress factors.
The major causes are chemical treatments, excessive use of styling tools, harsh hair products, rough brushing, washing your hair too often and environmental damage.
Nutrient deficiency from your diet or hormonal imbalance can also cause split hair ends.
Coconut oil is a great treatment for split hair ends and so are argan and castor oil.
Let’s take a look at how your hair can benefit from them.
How to avoid split hair ends
Our hair starts to naturally split every 3-4 months, which is why it’s good to get a regular hair cut.
There are a few other ways to prevent and treat split hair ends.
First of all a natural diet and haircare routine can make a big difference.
Other than that:
→ Take it easy with chemical treatments such as relaxing and coloring your hair.
If you dye your hair, use a natural color product or Henna, which is amazing for your hair.
→ Minimize the use of heat styling tools like straighteners, blow dryers and curling irons.
→ Use natural hair products instead of those made with synthetic ingredients.
→ Don’t brush or comb your hair when it’s wet.
→ Eat healthy and hydrate with lots of water, herbal teas and fresh coconut water.
→ Condition your hair regularly with nourishing oils like coconut oil.
Coconut oil for hair
Coconut oil has a small molecular structure, which helps it penetrate the hair shaft deeper than other oils. It restores protein loss, which is why it can transform damaged hair back into healthy, beautiful hair.
Coconut oil strengthens the hair fibre from the inside, reduces hair loss and supports hair growth.
It also protects your hair from heat damage, sun and swimming pool chemicals. Plus from salty water which is especially useful for the beach girls among us!

Castor oil & argan oil
Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, an omega 9 fatty acid that helps reduce hair loss, avoid breakage and more.
Argan oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, omega 6, and linoleum acid.
It repairs damaged hair and reduces hair loss.
It moisturizes your hair and protects it against chemicals and heat.
Coconut oil split hair ends treatment
If your coconut oil is solid, melt it au bain marie in a bowl placed in a pan with shimmering water.
Once the oil is fully melted, mix in the castor oil and argan oil.
Massage it into your clean hair ends and leave it in for at least 30 minutes.
For an intense repair treatment, you can leave the coconut oil split hair ends treatment in for up to six hours.
Rinse well afterwards.
